Words cannot explain the pain…

It’s been a long week…Ben started with a mild fever on Friday when he clearly wasn’t himself.  Over the weekend his fever would spike up to 104 but then come down to 102 but as soon as the Tylenol started to wear off he went right back up.  On Saturday morning I noticed white spots on his tongue and just thought it was thrush returning.  On Sunday I finally came to my senses and realized that when he had thrush he didn’t have the extreme pain inside his mouth.  Ben didn’t want to drink or eat…well he wanted to but the pain was too high.  We saw Dr. Taylor on Monday morning and she labeled it as a viral infection just like a cold that causes the blisters inside your mouth (gums, tongue, roof, & cheeks).  She said it would last 10-14 days, and I flipped out, but that the worst of it would be 3-5 days.  He’s taking Tylenol with codeine and that makes him actually sleep and gives him a little comfort to drink and gives him a little more desire to eat.  We’ve been trying to learn to sleep without the pacifier because it hurts too much to suck (I think we won’t go back if we can make it through).  It’s been really hard watching him in so much pain but also it’s been really trying on us because of the crying, whining, and refusal to eat and drink.  I hope we are past the worst of it because we’d like to get back some normalcy in our lives!
