20 minutes after putting Ben to bed I hear a little “Hi” coming from behind the couch. I knew Jim was in the kitchen so it could only mean one thing: Ben escaped from his crib! He was so proud of himself and kept saying Hi to us. We tried 3 more times to put him to bed but he just kept showing up in the family room. We had a tent that Laura never used but it didn’t quite fit the crib so we just had to convert it to a toddler bed…I’m not ready for that…and neither is Ben. We finally got him to sleep in his toddler bed 3 hours after our first try. At 12:45 he must have fallen out and was asleep crying on the floor. That was a quick one and he went right back to sleep. At 3:45 I heard his door open and then slam. 20 minutes later I went in to check on him and he was back asleep on his bed. At 7:00 he was throwing his toys over the baby gate letting me know he was ready to get up. I’m glad the gate at least kept him in his room. So today the crib is back assembled and I figured out a way to make the tent work. He loves the tent so I hope he’ll sleep and not think that it is just playtime.

Brooks started crawling out of his crib at 18 months. I put him down for a nap one day and I hear this little voice say “hi”, I looked over and he was sitting on the steps. I did not know about the tents so we just went ahead and converted his crib…and it’s been a nightmare ever since! We are still sitting with him until he falls asleep and he will be 4 in a couple of months. I won’t be making that mistake twice! I will be looking for a tent as soon as Brayden even looks like he might be thinking about crawling out! I’m glad you were able to find a way to make it work!
